What I would like to do is present some inspirational religious quotes taken from a range of every day words of spiritual and friendship poems, spiritual encouragement, what are characteristics of a true spiritual person, list of religions, inspired people, biblical scripture, sacred texts, religious leaders, outstanding individuals, into the wild quotes, sweet quotes, thank you quotes, love teenage quotes, cute boyfriend quotes, sad love quotes, holiday quotes, inspirational bible verses, Christian quotes, and individuals who draw guidance from their faith.
At this time of year many of us contemplate a period of reflection; a time to look back over the past year with a discerning eye; a time to weigh up the good and the bad; a time to evaluate where we feel we have progressed and where we feel we need to make more effort.
Consequently, many of us consider this time of year to be a good time to look to the future. Some individuals will think about what they would like to do in the next twelve months while others consider their whole future. As a result of this we make our new years resolutions, we set our goals and we make our plans.
On January 1st we can take our first step on our new “chosen” path. We start the journey towards a better way of life. Whether we want to make small changes e.g. lose weight, stop smoking, drink less, etc. or whether the ‘goal’ is much larger e.g. to become a better person, the journey is not easy. Every year many people give up and return to the place where they started, where they were comfortable. No one ever said it was going to be easy!
A little bit of advice before you go any further.
Whatever you want to do in this coming year or so, the way in which you set your goals is important.
* First of all, your “why” factor must be in place! That will be the driving force (we will speak more on this as we go). Make sure that your goals are specific – what you want to achieve and when you want to achieve it by. Set “exact” figures and dates. If targets are large then break them down into smaller steps. It is difficult to lose10Kg in weight but if you set your first target at 10% of the total and you aim to reach the target by February the first then it will be easier to succeed. Similarly, becoming a better person takes a long time.
If you aim to start every day with ‘Good morning…’ and a smile (even when you find it difficult -this is the best time to create new positive habits) you could easily turn that into a regular habit by the first of February – and you are more likely to succeed. Just break everything down into little steps and set dates by which you want to achieve your goals. Take moments at a time. Remember, it is important that the targets are measurable as you must be able to decide when you have achieved the target and when to move on to the next step.
* Write your goals down and keep them close to you. This way you can look at your goals repeatedly. It is just too easy to write things down and to forget about it within a few days. Tack them, paste them, tape them everywhere you exist in your world.
With this in mind, how did you get where you are right now? “Why” are you even seeking a change? Again, your “why” is going to be your driving factor. You created your world, as it is, little moments at a time and repeated them over and over. You can create and recreate anything in your life, with momentary goal setting, reading them at every turn. Start small and grow as you gain confidence with yourself. We are with you and here for you!
* Make a public commitment. Tell a “trusted” friend what you want to achieve (not just anybody). This does two things. Firstly, it will help you to feel more committed to your goals. Secondly, it will bring a trusted friend alongside – they will give you moral support when you need it. If you don’t feel that you can do that with a friend the do it on the Comments page of our blog. Our readers can support you and so can we.
What does this have to do with religious quotes?
You may be wondering what this has to do with religious quotes. The answer is that inspiration and motivation are key factors governing our thoughts and behavior. What’s interesting to us is the idea that different individuals are often inspired by similar ideas (or different aspects of the idea). Some inspiration is based on our values and beliefs but it is general enough to make a great deal of sense in a wider context. If we share our sources of inspiration then we all benefit.
Where do we go from here?
My aim is to provide inspiration, with these Religious Quotes, that you can use in your daily life. I would also like you to help me to multiply the motivational ideas with the contribution of your own positive thoughts, feelings and experiences (in relation to the quotes presented).
I hope to enable a unity of community where positivity and light influence all our futures and which supports us as we move forward on our chosen paths.
Here’s what we are going to do:
1. I will select the first religious quote. I will chose a quote which I think is appropriate for the start of the new year and the start of this blog.
2. I contribute my thoughts to the related religious quote.
3. I invite YOU personally to give your contribution to the blog(please make a comment) – keeping in mind that we are trying to produce a place where people of all races and religions can unite in their mission to develop a better world, please ensure that your comments are encouraging. This is not about right or wrong, good or bad, it is about inspiring each other, regardless of belief, and moving forward to a better life speaking life to each other. Tell us about the stories and ideas that changed your lives.
4. One week after the quote and initial comments are posted I will ask the contributors to vote (so please make a comment) for the individual who they consider to have provided the best comment in terms of further inspiration or guidance. If there are no votes cast or there is a tie I will have the final decision (this could prove interesting – all contributors would be asked for quotes and comments).
5. I will then invite the person selected (as a result of this process) to provide an inspirational religious quote of their choice and the individual will also become the first to contribute their thoughts, feelings and experiences in relation to the quote. The individual must be able to supply the source of the quote so that we can check this before using it on this site.
6. If the individual does not supply an inspirational religious quote then I will supply another religious quote.

Hello world! Wow, how could I add to this? Well, I suppose this religious quote is instructing me on what kind of things to think about.
We “are” what we think, in our minds. I’m not talking about what we think we are but what we “think of”, period (brain twister). Where do you think you get your moods and attitude from? Yes, the affect from your thoughts!
What is negative and bad is always available(which is usually the easy route), but you know what, so is what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. When you are full of dark thoughts you and everybody around you are miserable. If this is the case, try this religious quote in your life. Ask yourself “what thoughts have I been cultivating”?
Take your thought life and give some time to examine it. Write down, on a moment by moment basis, an inventory of the words that cross your mind. What do you see? Do they show a black stench of stagnant fruit? Or, do those thoughts give light around you cultivating the soil of others that you may be blessed from your own fruits, given by the Deity?

Human beings have a great deal of control over their lives. Though there are things out there that will generally grab our attention (anything new, bright lights, loud noises, contrast etc.), there are many thoughts and situations over which we can exert control.
To me this quote is about the choices we make in relation to our thoughts and the behaviors that follow. It is about whether we are positive or negative in our interpretation of events, our choices of friends, how we spend our time and how we behave in our world.
Let me explain.
There are many people who believe that we should set standards for ourselves and we should try to live by those standards. We decide what is the right way to conduct ourselves and we try to live that way. Of course, we are only human, we all make mistakes, we are not perfect.
By finding people with similar standards and spending time with them, we are less likely to err from what we see as good. We can give encouragement to each other and we can learn from each other.
I also think that we should look for the good things in life. By that I mean we should try to find enjoyment in the simple things in life – spending time with friends, enjoying a walk in the countryside, visiting the seaside with family etc. It is all too easy to wake up in the mornings feeling depressed and convincing ourselves that there is nothing to good to look forward to. If you make a point of looking for and planning something good (even if it is a small thing) then you will feel much better. I’m not saying that we should ignore the negative – just that we should influence things within our power so that we try to produce something positive.
By spending a little time thinking about and planning something nice, and making a commitment to enjoying yourself and focusing on the positive aspects of what is around you then you can change your life. Make a commitment to look for something good in everyday situations – and the people in your life.
Why not start each day by thinking of three things that you could do for other people. You could tell someone something that you like about them, give a surprise gift (it doesn’t have to involve money) or thank someone for something they have done for you – even if it was a while ago, they will be pleased that you still remember. Take small steps towards a more positive life for yourself and those around you.

I was working as an aid in a Kindergarten class and went through almost an entire school year of a child working me over. As much as I thought I was winning against his defiant character, deep down, he had me. It wasn’t until another teacher said “Daina, when he gets angry tell him he has a choice.” For him the choice was to do as was expected or to have a time out. I tried it and in a matter of a few battles behaviors were changing. Not just his behavior but my own. This small child was being taught that he had control over his own choices and when making the correct one he was much happier. I learned at 37 years old that we are in control of our own choices.
Little does that teacher know how much I learned in Kindergarten that year. I find myself often in a mood or state of mind where I know my thoughts are not for the good. It isn’t always easy for me to get out of that frame of mind. Even when I hear these wonderful words in Philippians it isn’t so easy for me to put them into practice. I’m uncertain why… I at times feel like something has a hold of my mind and won’t let go. I do know that if I concentrate hard enough that I can break it.
What I find that works for me is time alone. I need time for me. That may sound selfish but if we don’t take care of us then we are no good to others. My advice to you if you have the battles of your mind that I tend to, is to walk away from your thoughts. Go buy yourself a cup of coffee and take a drive. Stay up late at night by yourself and fall asleep on the couch after eating a bowl of ice cream. Go to the mall and buy yourself a new candle. Simple things regenerate the mind and allow us to refresh our thoughts so that we may see all that we are truly blessed with.
What I know is that I have many years of life ahead of me and I want my future to be brighter then the day behind me. I want to give joy to others and I feel as though I’ve lived a long life already without passing much joy on. My goal for this new year is to make the choice to be a better person. I’m going to write this so that I will be accountable. I want to take the time to give. I want to take the time to love. I want to take the time to listen. I want to take the time to be the wife, mother, friend, and person that God intended me to be. I want to touch the lives of others that I will never know or meet. Image doing something for someone that gives them a moment of joy. That makes me smile. That makes God smile.
